One day after a baseball meltdown cost the East Coweta Indians a victory against Northside Columbus in a non-region game, head coach Franklin Deloach’s squad got back on track where it really counted, beating Langston Hughes 11-5 in a Region 2-AAAAA game in Atlanta on Tuesday.
The contest was called in the sixth inning by the 10-run mercy rule. With the victory, East Coweta pushes its overall record to 12-8 and its region mark to 8-2.
Five different pitchers threw at least one inning for the Indians with Austin Parmer starting the game and striking out three. Dylan Taylor and Brandon Rustin also struck out two each to help pace the team’s pitching performance.
Offensively, Cole Antmann finished with two RBIs and two runs scored en route to the win.
Tim Manning and Jordan Lewis each had two hits.
M.L. King visits East Coweta on Friday night for a Region 2-AAAAA game. In the first meeting between the two teams, East Coweta won 11-3.
Luella still holds a one-game lead in the Region 2-AAAAA standings over East Coweta (8-2) and rival Newnan (8-2). The Lions are 8-1 i n league play, but the Indians handed the Lions their only loss of the year right before spring break.

MONDAY – NORTHGATE 17, FAYETTE COUNTY 1
The Northgate Vikings won their fourth game in a row on Monday with a 17-1 victory over the Tigers in a Region 3B-AAAAA game.
Northgate moved to 11-7 overall and 5-4 in the region. They take on Whitewater today at home starting at 5 p.m.
