Mr. Eldred DeVore Sr.

Mr. Eldred DeVore Sr., 81, of Alvaton, GA, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital in Newnan, GA.

Funeral services for Mr. DeVore were held 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25 at Cox Funeral Home, Manchester, with Rev. Winston Skinner officiating. Burial was in the Devore Family Cemetery in Alvaton.

Mr. DeVore was born Dec. 28, 1930, in Atlanta, GA, the son of Frank and Alice Streetman DeVore. He was retired Heavy Equipment Mechanic with the Coweta County Public Works. Mr. DeVore served his country during the Korean War as a sergeant with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Gay, GA, and a member of the Coweta Masonic Lodge # 60 in Newnan, GA.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Tootsie) DeVore; son, Eldred (Peanut) DeVore Jr. and his wife Tracy, all of Alvaton; two daughters, Dianne Reardon and her fiancé Wiliam Clarke of Greenville, Wanda Crowder and her husband Charlie of Warm Springs; three sisters; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
