Mrs. Ruth Hutchinson Covin

Mrs. Ruth Hutchinson Covin, 95, of Hogansville, Ga., died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at her home.

Mrs. Covin was born March 15, 1916, in Haralson, daughter of the late James Atticus Hutchinson and the late Mary Fox Camp Hutchinson.

A former resident and school teacher in Moreland, she had lived in Hogansville since 1963, and retired from the Hogansville School System after teaching 36 years. She was a graduate of Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, and received a B.A. and M.Ed. from West Georgia College in Carrollton. She was a member of Hogansville First United Methodist Church, and was a former member and chairman of the Hogansville School Board.

Survivors include her daughter and son in-law, Mary Fox and Mike Fowler of Anderson, SC; son and daughter-in-law, David and Carol Covin of Manassas, VA; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Elmer (Fox) Covin; daughter, Laura Covin; five sisters; and two brothers.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5 in the chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Rev. Willow Heim will officiate, with interment in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 until 2 Sunday afternoon.
