Mrs. Gloria Faith Early Daniel

Gloria Faith Early Daniel passed away August 15, 2012. She was 70 years old. She was born in Rome, Georgia, and was the daughter of the late Roy Edward Early & Lillie Mae Byars Early. She was a graduate of Fulton High School in Atlanta and Oglethorpe University, class of 1964. She completed her post-graduate work at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

While attending Oglethorpe University, she was sent by the dean to pick up two newly arrived transfer students at the Union Station in Atlanta. One of those students was Lee B. Daniel of Wake Forest, NC. They became a couple soon after that and remained a couple for the next 50 years.

Mrs. Daniel was a Special Education teacher in Lee County, North Carolina while completing her graduate studies, but moved into the social work field shortly after moving to the state of Georgia. She worked as a social worker and counselor at Central State Hospital in Milledgeville, Georgia, where she became one of the first adult education teachers there. After moving to Coweta County, she served as the lead social worker at Newnan Hospital from 1973-1980. She left Newnan Hospital to go into Child Protective Services with the Coweta County DFACS and became the Multi-County Resource Development Unit Supervisor, where she recruited and trained foster and adoptive parents. Through her work there, she helped more than 3,000 children find newer and safer homes to grow up in.

She and her husband founded CAP Learning Associates, Inc. in 1995. This company presented workshops and seminars for Foster and Adoptive Family organizations in over 14 states and the United Kingdom.

She was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church as well as the National Association of Social Work. She, along with Tom Corker and Rev. David Lovelace, helped found the Coweta Community Food Pantry. She was also a member of the Georgia Council of Social Welfare, and served as the president of this organization for the 1985-1986 year.

Survivors include husband, Lee B. Daniel; children, Anthony Lee Daniel & fiancee Christine Smith, Heather Dawn Daniel; and was a proud “Gigi” to Sara Delaney Smith and Jory Alexander Smith.
