West Georgia Technical College officials at the Carrollton-based school have announced dates and locations for town hall-type forums to discuss potentially adding football at its campuses in Newnan, Douglasville and LaGrange.

The town hall meetings are open to the public as well as current WGTC employees and students. Anyone interested in playing football on the junior college level in the near future is also encouraged to attend.

“We continue to explore the addition of football to our sports department, and we want to encourage everyone in our communities to give us feedback as we go about this in a very methodical manner,” said WGTC President Dr. Skip Sullivan.

Three meetings are scheduled for August:

• At the Douglasville campus - Aug. 14.

• At Central Educational Center in Newnan - Aug. 16.

• At the LaGrange campus Aug. 21.

Each meeting will begin at 7 p.m.

A crowd of more than 50 attended the first meeting at the Murphy Campus in Waco on July 12.

West Georgia Tech athletic coordinator Walter Dunson said so far the response has been positive.

“As the interest and excitement continues to build around the possibility of adding football we will continue to vet the process. The responses from coaches from SEC and ACC schools have been extremely positive and very supportive. We expect to announce our decision in September,” Dunson said.
