Editor’s note: Here is a sampling of readers’ comments to our Wednesday editorial, “Additional downtown Newnan parking is a plus for the city.” The city is building about 70 spaces in two parking lots between Washington and East Broad streets near the Historic Train Depot. The comments below were posted on times-herald.com .
— We thank you for the extra 70 spaces, but I would have thought bigger (like a parking deck).
— Vast parking lots are horrible. The city should build a multi-level parking garage a block off the square and use the rest of that saved real estate for other development, or even the new safety complex planned to be built.
— Parking decks are very expensive, and I would hardly call 70 spaces vast.
— Parking decks are expensive, but you get what you pay for. A few years from now they will be spending even more money for more parking. Start thinking ahead instead of just in the now.
— Employees and business owners continue to park all day on the square taking places that would benefit them. Dummies.
