Mr. William Thomas Miller Sr. gently left this earthly life and his spirit soared to his heavenly home on July 20, 2012.
Tom was a man known by his family as a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather and great grandfather. To others he was known as a consummate patriot, having retired from the service of his country in the United States Air Force. His church family knew him as a faithful member of Oak Lawn Baptist Church.
He was a simple man who found his greatest joy in family, church, and a good ball game.
Tom Miller was born September 26, 1926, in Wise, Virginia. He was one of eight children born to the late Thomas Jackson and Sarah Belle Wilson Miller. He was the last of the children surviving.
Tom was also preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Jean Hall Miller; daughter, Dreema Carol Miller; and grandson, Dennis Cox.
He is survived by his children, Pat (Rob) Lawson, Donna (Tony) Kitchens, William Thomas (Missy) Miller Jr., and Alma June (Todd) Cooper; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors Sunday evening between 6 and 8 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home. The funeral will be Monday, July 23, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home, with the Reverend David Arrington officiating. Burial, with Air Force military honors, will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
