Mrs. Anneliese Hartmann Allen, 84, of Grantville, GA passed away July 5, 2012.

She was born in Ober-Ranstadt, Germany Dec 23, 1927. She survived WWII and married a young GI, James Lee Roy Allen, on Oct 2, 1948.

Anneliese and Sgt. Allen were on the last ship of the war brides of WWII. They arrived in Grantville via the Southern Crest Train on Christmas Day 1948. Sgt. Allen and Anneliese remained in the US Army for 23 yrs.

Anneliese worked for JC Penney for 30 yrs. After retiring, she enjoyed gardening and singing with the Moreland Singers. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lee Roy Allen.

She is survived by daughter Barbara Roberson, son Robert Allen and wife, Teresa, grandchildren Joseph Roberson, Kim Coker and husband, Jay and greatgrand children Carson and Peyton Coker.

The graveside service will be Monday July 9, 2012 at 11:00am at Grantville Cemetery.
