The Supreme Court ruling on health care was a small win for President Obama and not the huge win the main stream media would have you believe. This just handed the election of 2012 to the conservative movement.
Why? Here are my reasons.
1. Energized the whole movement behind Mitt Romney. The turnout will be overwhelming and will dwarf the turnout of 2010, when the Democrats lost. Romney will benefit in fundraising.
2. The whole ruling limits the use of the commerce clause for now and in the future. No longer will it be a one stop shop for all of the nutty things that politicians come up with to try. By making it a tax, Chief Justice Roberts has moved the playing field and made it easier to repeal.
3. Increased federalism by allowing the states to opt out of the expanded Medicare coverage. By doing this he has strengthened the 10th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. This is a big deal and will have ramifications well into the future.
4. By defining this as a tax and not as a part of commerce, it gives Romney something to hammer Obama on in the election. Twenty-one new tax increases will go into effect and kill the economy as well as turn the IRS into something it was not ever intended to be.
So get over the initial shock of the ruling and don’t let it get you down. The conservative point of view is winning and will carry the day. This law will have its day, and it will lose. Our system can be messy, and it is for a good reason. Our founders designed it that way on purpose.
