Mr. Jimmy L. Spencer

Mr. Jimmy L. Spencer, a resident of East Point, GA, died peacefully at Newnan Nursing and Rehabilitation on June 28, 2012 after a long hard battle with Alzheimer’s.

He was born on March 5, 1935, in Hogansville, GA, one of eleven children, to the late A.B. (Tut) and Jewell Spencer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by death by his grandparents; in-laws, William Oren Langley and Flossie Grace Langley; sister, Christine Spencer; brothers, Thomas, Walt, Ronnie, Larry, Ray, and Charlie Fred Spencer.

He was the beloved husband of Erma Jean Langley Spencer for 53 years.

Jimmy is survived by six children who loved him dearly: Gail Spencer Pollio, Daryl Spencer, Donna Spencer Tarvin, Denise Spencer Martin, Danette Spencer Martin, and Dean Spencer; grandchildren, J.D. Hall, Chase Hall, Caden Hall, Lisa Hall, Taylor Hall, Jaelyn Hall, Jorrel Hall, Lance Delahunt, Dominic Delahunt, Lindsey Delahunt George, Leigha Delahunt, Landon Tarvin, Ashley Martin Armstrong, Brian Martin, Salena Martin, Jordan Martin, Chad Jesup, Kelly Jesup, Adam Spencer; brothers, Danny (Cathy) Spencer, Jerry (Nancy) Spencer; sister, Margaret Spencer Webb; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Jimmy touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and he maintained his sense of humor all the way to the end.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 30 at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Spencer officiating. Interment will follow at Sargent Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, 4-8 p.m.
