Mr. James “Ray” Mote of Carrollton, GA, formally of Newnan, passed away June 26, 2012.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Margaret Folds Mote; daughters, Sheila Moore and her husband, Steve, of Carrollton, Marsha Duncan and her husband, Mike, of Newnan and Sherri Evans and her husband, Stan, of Carrollton. He is “Pa” to five grandchildren, Michelle, Maggie, Phillip, Jordan and Michael; and two great-granddaughters, Kaylee and Autumn.
Ray retired from the Carrollton Post Office as a rural mail carrier after 30 years of service. Following his retirement he worked for several years at Carrollton Federal Bank. Once Margaret retired, they enjoyed working three seasonal assignments at Yellowstone National Park where they made lifelong friends.
He and Margaret shared a love for the North Georgia mountains, where they entertained many guests and family members at their mountain getaway in Hiawassee, GA. He also loved his home on Lake Carroll, the Atlanta Braves, and Macedonia Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 28 at Macedonia Baptist Church with Dr. John Riley and Rev. Searcy Jackson officiating. Ray will lie in state at the church from 1:30 p.m. until the funeral hour. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The family received friends Wednesday, June 27 from 6 until 8 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home.
