Newnan authorities have issued an arrest warrant for a Newnan resident wanted for Tuesday’s shooting of another man in the Landers Street area southeast of downtown.

The warrant, for aggravated assault with a weapon, is for Rico Robinson, last known address of Haynie Street, according to Deputy Chief Rodney Riggs with the Newnan Police Department. Robinson was still at large as of Wednesday.

Fred Barrison, 27, was shot at least twice Tuesday around 1 p.m. off Landers Street.

He was taken by air ambulance to an Atlanta area hospital and was in serious condition.

“There was some type of argument in the backyard of the house on Landers Street and Robinson apparently shot Barrison,” Riggs said. “Witnesses said there were multiple shots and Barrison has at least two gunshot wounds.”

Riggs said there are no other suspects at this time. He said the last he heard Barrison was in stable condition.
