Dr. James M. Bryant Jr., age 91, of Newnan, GA, died June 9, 2012, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.

A native of Coweta County, he was born May 6, 1921 to the late James Monroe Bryant Sr. and Ezra Dunaway Bryant. He received his early education in Newnan and went on to attend Emory University and The Augusta Medical College. He did his medical residency in Macon, Georgia. He returned to Newnan and established his family practice that was maintained for almost 40 years.

His devotion to his patients endeared him to them and they were relationships that lasted throughout his life. He had the unique distinction of serving in all of the branches of the military service during the years of World War II and left the service at the rank of Captain.

Dr. Bryant was a lifelong member of Central Baptist Church of Newnan. He was enthusiastically involved in the Masonic organization and Yaarab Shrine. A passion of his was his loyalty and interest in The University of Georgia Bulldogs.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Monroe Bryant III. He is survived by his wife Harriett Camp Bryant. His children are Jennie Bryant (and Wayne) Jackson, Ronald (and Joanne) Bryant, Don (and Pam) Bryant, Jackie Bryant Barbier, Jackie (and Gudi) Robertson and Brooks Robertson. Dr. Bryant's grandchildren include Michael (and Rebecca) Jackson, Corinne (and Corey) Hindman, Kendal Ward, Scott Whitley, Camp Robertson, Serina (and Chris) Cochran, Kayley Robertson, Kaitlyn Robertson, Samy Barbier and Joanna Barbier, James M. Bryant IV and Olivia Rose Bryant.

Funeral arrangements are by McKoon Funeral Home at 38 Jackson Street. Visitation is at the funeral home on Monday evening 6-8 p.m. The funeral service is Tuesday, June 12, at 2 p.m. Dr. Joel E. Richardson officiating. Interment with military honors at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
