• The Centre will host three summer art camps for elementary and middle school students. One June session will be offered, with two sessions slated for July.
The cost of the camps is $110 per student. The camps will run Monday through Friday and younger and older students will be split into two groups. Camp hours are 9 to 11:30 a.m.

• Summer Eco-Camp will be June 26-29 at the University of West Georgia Newnan Center for students entering grades 3-6 in the fall. Wildlife with Wolfie hours will be from 9 a.m. to noon each day. The cost is $100 per student with the registration deadline has been extended to June 18.
Participants will create bird feeders, garden art and more from recycled materials. Campers will also learn to care for wildlife, and about food chains.

• Grantville area children will enjoy the Grantville Recreation Department’s summer camp with sessions available Monday through July 27. Camp hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Community Center, located at 92 Post St.
The camp will include weekly field trips and swimming excursions. Stop by the Community Center for additional details.
• An epic journey through Colonial America awaits kids ages 8-12, with chances to relive the struggles of settlers in some of the first colonial settlements, participate in the Salem Witch Trials, and experience life for colonists, Indians, and enslaved Africans in prosperous British America. The Newnan Carnegie Library Foundation presents another fun-filled and educational day with historian and author Dr. Annette Laing in Could You Be A Colonial Kid? Wednesday, June 27, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Newnan Carnegie Library.
In a day of roleplay with multimedia, games, activities, and lots of imagination, kids learn about life in the first global age, trying their hands as European merchants and dabbling in Shakespeare’s plays. They will learn how to speak like Pilgrims, and how to survive a winter in early Jamestown.
Tickets are $25 each, and sales are underway at the Newnan Carnegie Library and Scott’s Bookstore in Downtown Newnan . Early purchase is strongly recommended, as this event is expected to sell out quickly.

• The Georgia Youth Science Technology Center (GYSTC) still has slots available in some of its summer camps. Science camps are for rising second to fifth graders and include Blast Off!, to the Moon and Beyond, Sky Lights, and Star Wars and More. Camps are June 25-28 and will be held at Thomas Crossroads Elementary School. Spaces are limited and those interested should call 770-253-4632.
• Instructor Bette Hickman, leader of Young Artists of Newnan an Coweta, will offer art camps this summer through the Coweta County Recreation Department. The 2012 camps will be “Going Green ECO Art” and Paint Like the Modern Masters - Picasso & Pollock” Going Green will be June 18-20 from 10 a.m. to noon for ages 6 to 12. Students will explore their creativity as they create treasures pleasing to the eye and to the Earth.
Paint Like the Modern Masters will be July 24-26 from 1-3 p.m. The camp is an introduction to the basics of drawing and painting and is for ages 6 to 12. Young artists will learn about the works and lives of Picasso and Pollock.
