Mrs. Jan McElwaney Gibson, 73, of Newnan, GA, passed away on May 30, 2012.

Jan was the longtime owner of Jan’s Hallmark in Baton Rouge, LA, and Newnan, GA. She was a member of Fayetteville First United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by parents, K.W and Martha Griffith McElwaney, and two brothers, King McElwaney and Mike McElwaney.

She is survived by her husband, Steve Gibson of Newnan, GA; daughter, Beth Shell and her husband Dennis of Hogansville, GA; son, Mac Mayfield of Hiawassee, GA; and grandchildren, Marti Toner and her husband Matt of Washington D.C. and Philip Shell and his wife Hannah of Athens, GA.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 1 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Reverend Charles Wilson will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Newnan. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Michael J.
