Mr. Thompson Hamilton Storey

Mr. Thompson Hamilton Storey, 90, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012, from complications of congestive heart failure and lung disease. He was born Oct. 14, 1921, in Coweta County, the fifth of seven children, to the late Calvin Cologne Storey and Lonnie Mae Lyle Storey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings.

Mr. Storey was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church on Summers McKoy Road, and in his later years attended Sunday School at First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Thompson was a giant of a man in every respect who dearly loved his children and grandchildren. He was a builder who built many houses before he opened and operated Storey Cash and Carry on Roscoe Road before his health failed. He was well-known to his customers as the “well pump man.”

He took great pride in getting to know his customers and becoming close friends with many of them.

The funeral is Thursday, April 19 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home with Rev. O.C. Collins and Mr. Charles Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The visitation is Wednesday between 6 -8 at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St., Newnan.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Ruthie Thompson Storey; daughter, Carol Storey Long & her husband Dan; son, Ted Storey & his wife Sheila; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
