The second annual Dragon Boat Races and International Festival sponsored by The Rotary Club of Peachtree City Sept. 27 has been deemed a huge success.
The events were held at Drake Field on Lake Peachtree and attracted an attendance of between 3,000 to 4,000 people.
The winning team of this year's race, with a time of 1:05.85, was the Mekong Dragons (formerly Drunken Dragons). The Mekong Dragons' ages range from 16 to 58 with different nationalities from Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. The mission of the Mekong Dragons is:
-- To promote and develop the sport of dragon boat racing
-- To promote cross-cultural understanding through the sport of dragon boat racing
-- Fun, excitement, exercise, friendships, and the thrill of competition.
Calgary Place Subdivision came in second with a time of 1:07.82.
There was also a special challenge race between the city of Peachtree City and the city of Senoia. The city of Senoia was declared the winner of this year's race.

6. "PTC Classic 5K/15K" (PTC Running Club), 01:12.52.
In addition to the races, families enjoyed a variety of International food and entertainment including Greek and Irish dancers.
Next year's race will be held on Sept. 26, a Saturday, as part of Peachtree City's 50th Anniversary Celebration.
