Work under way on medical offices at new Piedmont Newnan site

From STAFF REPORTS

news@newnan.com

Piedmont Medical Plaza — a 125,000-square-foot medical office building on the new Piedmont Newnan Hospital campus located on Poplar Road near Interstate 85 — has broken ground.

The project, managed by Meadows & Ohly, LLC for Piedmont Newnan Hospital, joins the flurry of new local health and medical-related construction activity in Coweta, including a new county health department facility on Hospital Road, a new southeastern hub for Cancer Treatment Centers of America on Newnan Crossing Bypass, the replacement Piedmont Newnan Hospital facility, and even a charitable clinic.

The medical office building on Poplar Road will be attached by covered walkway to the 136-bed replacement hospital under construction by Piedmont Healthcare. Piedmont Medical Plaza is scheduled to open in February 2012, prior to the hospital opening in the spring of 2012.

Piedmont Medical Plaza will be owned by a partnership that includes Meadows & Ohly, LLC and physicians who are tenants of the building. The project was designed by Perkins & Will, Inc., and will be constructed by Brasfield & Gorrie, LLC.

“Piedmont Medical Plaza will provide a first-class environment for physicians and their patients, conveniently located to all the Piedmont Newnan Hospital services,” said Thomas E. Rhodes, president of Meadows & Ohly.

“We recognize that the project is significant to Coweta County as it improves access to quality health care, and it will create job opportunities now and in the future. We consider it a privilege to be a partner with Piedmont Healthcare in developing this campus,” he said.

Meadows & Ohly, LLC, a health care real estate firm with offices in Atlanta and Charlotte, offers development, acquisition, strategic planning and property management services to hospitals and physicians.

The firm manages a medical office building portfolio of 3.7 million square feet and has developed more than 50 medical office buildings around the Southeast during its 39-year history.
