Gun Range Shooting

Woman apologizes to gun range in note

The investigation by Newnan Police of a fatal shooting Friday has confirmed a woman intentionally took her life at Newnan gun range Atlanta Range & Ordinance.

According to Sgt. James Beneke’s incident report, around 1:15 p.m. Friday, officers with the Newnan Police Department and emergency service personnel responded to the range on Millard Farmer Industrial Boulevard and advised that the woman from Peachtree City was deceased.

During the investigation, it was discovered the woman was a customer of the business and had previously visited the range on Sept. 3. On Friday, Sept. 6, the woman rented a lane, handgun, eye and ear protection and waited until no other customers were present in the firing range before taking her life, Beneke said in his report. The incident was recorded on video surveillance.

A note apologizing to the business for the incident was discovered in one of the woman’s pockets. The note also gave instructions on who to contact when she was found.
