Rain, severe storms possible in Coweta on Christmas Day; winter storms, tornado threats in US
From Wire and Staff Reports news@newnan.com NEW ORLEANS (AP) – Forecasts of snow, sleet and freezing rain threatened to complicate Christmas Day travel around the nation's midsection Tuesday as several Gulf Coast states braced for a chance of twisters and powerful thunderstorms. The National Weather Service in Peachtree City says that Coweta County should expect a 100 percent chance of rain on Christmas Day, mainly after 3 p.m. A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for North and West Central Georgia – including Coweta – until 10 a.m. Today's high should reach 57 with calm winds early, then from the East at 5 mph as 1/2 to 3/4 inches of rain are expected.
