Two churches to have early Thanksgiving meal Saturday

By Winston Skinner

The Times-Herald

Two area churches will be providing an early Thanksgiving meal for anyone who needs one on Saturday.

Volunteers from Holiness Is The Way Ministries, Inc. will be at East Coweta Middle School on Saturday from noon-4 p.m. "We're going to give free Thanksgiving dinners to the community," Evangelist Catonya Bowles said.

She said people do not have to reserve a plate. People can simply come to the school during those hours. Anyone who wants to help serve the meal should call 770-599-8764.

Mills Chapel Baptist Church will be sponsoring its second annual meal for the needy on Saturday. Serving at the church on U.S. Highway 29 north of Newnan will be from 3-6 p.m.

"Our goal is to bless those who are going through hard times and show our love and support for our community," Jeff Smith, pastor of the church, said.

People who are planning to attend are asked to call 770-253-7967 so volunteers will know how much food to prepare. "Our menu will consist of turkey and dressing and ham and all the fixings," Smith said.

Volunteers who would like to help serve the meal at Mills Chapel should e-mail Smith at pastorjeff@millschapel.com .
