Three people, including an infant, were taken to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries after a Monday wreck in which a white Toyota Highlander flipped, but ended back on its wheels.

WINTERS john@newnan.com A two-vehicle accident Monday on Bullsboro Drive sent three people, including an infant, to area hospitals with non-threatening injuries despite one vehicle flipping. The accident occurred about 1 p.m. on Bullsboro Drive at the intersection with Newnan Crossing Boulevard East when one driver broadsided another, according to Newnan Police Department officer Scott Milam.
A Toyota Highlander, driven by Mary Newman, was eastbound on Bullsboro and attempting to turn into the Newnan Pavilion shopping center, the officer said. At the same time, a Ford Escort, driven by Amber Mejia-Nunez, was westbound on Bullsboro. "Witnesses said the Escort had the green light and the Toyota turned in front of it," Milam said, adding the Escort broadsided the Toyota on the passenger side, causing it to flip over — it eventually landed back on its wheels. Newman was taken to Piedmont Newnan Hospital by ground ambulance; Mejia-Nunez and a small infant, who was in a child restraint seat, were taken to Grady Hospital by ground ambulance, Milam said. Newnan will be charged with failure to yield and/or failure to obey a traffic signal, the officer said.
