Tea Party protests today over health care proposals

By Sarah Fay Campbell

The Newnan Times-Herald

The Tea Party movement continues today with "health care freedom parties" being held outside the offices of senators and congressmen all over the nation.

In Coweta, plans include a mini-tea party outside the office of Congressman Lynn Westmoreland. It will be from noon to 1 p.m. at Westmoreland's district office, located in the White Oak Professional Center on Highway 34 East.

"Our focus is on nationalized health care, and expressing that we do not want a nationalized health care system," said Wendy Bloedt, local coordinator for the newly-renamed Southern Crescent Tea Party Patriots.

For legislators who have come out against the plans for "health care reform," such as Westmoreland, "it is also an opportunity for us to go out and thank them for listening and voting the way their constituents" want them to vote, Bloedt said.

Bloedt also plans to present Westmoreland's staff with a copy of the Constitution, and the pledge signed by people at the July 4 tea party event in Peachtree City. Attendees pledged they would read the Constitution in its entirety.

A town hall meeting on health care reform had been set for Saturday in Peachtree City, but it's been postponed, Bloedt said. It will now be held on Aug. 17 -- the time and location have not been determined.

Bloedt and tea party organizers in Henry and Clayton counties have joined with the Peachtree City Tea Party Patriots to form the Southern Crescent group.

The group is sponsoring a "making of America" seminar Aug. 29 in Fayetteville. The day-long seminar will take participants through the Constitution section by section, Bloedt said. Cost is $25 and includes lunch.

"This organization is not just about tea parties," Bloedt said. "One of our main goals is to educate the public about things that are happening politically in the U.S. right now, and informing people about the Constitution and what it means."

You just couldn't anwser the question about 16 million being wasted. Thats ok keep believing in your Messiah Obama. Conservatives are about working hard and doing the right thing. Liberals are about handouts and taking care of the lazy.

How wasteful is it to support spending nearly 2 billion on 7 airplanes that the pentagon and Air Force doesn't want? Not too mention that these planes have never been used in Iraq or Afghanistan and that they are vulnerable to RAIN!

Bubba, You do realize that Bush never once included Iraq and Afghanistan's funding in his budget right? You don't happen to think that would skew the numbers?

You have yet to provide any proof Bubba. Saying something was on fox is not providing a source now is it? Im not sure what you mean by "the bill was shown" people have been able to view the bill for months now. You obviously have a very simple mind bubba. I will make one last futile attempt at this for you. The money is going to restore wetlands (you know, a vital ecosystem) that has been destroyed. Simply because a mouse lives there does not mean that is what the money is for. Using your logic we spent hundreds of billions of dollars to put a Burger King in Iraq. They weren't there before we arrived, so that must be it right?

Yeah, I know, you conservatives are all completely independent. Ecology isn't important at all, plants don't create your oxygen. You make it yourself through your own hard work. Taxes don't pave your roads, y'all all went out and each built a little piece and it all just synced up nice and seamless like. According to Jindal monitoring volcanoes is pork spending, too. Although I have a feeling Alaskans disagree with him after Mt. Redoubt's recent eruption. Trillions of our tax dollars spent in the pursuit of financial gain for politicians and corporations and killing people in the process, well of course that's just fine, but let's don't spend a dime on our own infrastructure and maintaining our own country. Absolutely not, that's just wasted pork spending to people like you that exist completely independently from society and the ecology of the planet. Wow, the admiration I have for somebody so accomplished that they don't need plants for air, or water, dirt to grow food, or even other people in any way, my goodness, it just can't be expressed in words.

THEY BEAT US WITH OUR OWN STICK!

7/19/2009

Good job TEA Partiers! Did you ever wonder where the money for things like the subversion of the world's immigration laws may come from? Also, recently I’m seeing an ad campaign, using money we don’t have, to sell us on a new health plan. It seems to me as long as we allow people to print up fiat money there will be no place in the world where freedom can flourish. If the Globalist oppose your efforts, paid for with real hard earned money, all they have to do is fire up the presses and shovel the money to any group that will oppose you. Not only that but it seems they do it in such a way that the money to achieve THEIR goals is borrowed from them. Then we pay interest to a group outside of our country, like the Federal Reserve, on the creation and borrowing of OUR OWN money. IN ESSENCE THEY BEAT US WITH OUR OWN STICK!

Whats wrong with blueberry research or fruit and vegetable research. Don't forget Pelosi 16 million to save a salt water mouse or how about Murtha and his millions for a private airport. Lets don't bring up Michelle Obama and her private Air Force jet for shopping in Paris how much did that cost?

I'm assuming that those of you who were there have already expressed your disapproval of Westmoreland sponsoring a$223,000 ear mark for the "initiative to improve blueberry production and efficiency". or the $189,000 he sponsored for "fruit and vegetable research"

Hey don't pick on the Post Office. There isn't a company or system in the world that accomplishes what they do for the price. Public option in health care is no more a threat than the Post Office is to Fed-Ex and UPS.

Tea Party's Are a Joke

7/17/2009

Link To This Comment

These Tea Parties have become nothing more than a parody of themselves. Riddle me this, Batman: what exactly is supposed to come out of a bunch of over zealous ideologues behaving like fools? Protesting really doesn't accomplish much; action does. You want to stop nationalized health insurance? Kick your elected officials out of office. Lynn Westmoreland isn't doing his job? FIRE HIM! John Linder taking things in stride? FIRE HIM! Saxby Chambliss? FIRE HIM! Waving posters in the air and dressing up like buffoons will accomplish nothing. It's passive and ineffective.

Most of the poor have Medicaid or Medicare. The wealthy can afford insurance. So, you appear to be protesting the middle class having a viable option for health care. Do you worry that there won't be enough healthcare to go around or do you worry about somebody getting something that you don't?
