Local law enforcement officers say there was not a shooting at Lakeside Apartments on Wednesday.
There were rampant rumors concerning a shooting -- and possible fatality -- at Lakeside Apartments on Bullsboro Drive in Newnan Wednesday night. Officials with the Coweta County Sheriff's Office, however, say the incident in question was accidental and did not include any gunfire.
Lt. John Lewis said talk of weapon involvement at the location off Bullsboro Drive was untrue. "There is nothing to substantiate that," he said.
According to Lewis, someone was injured at the apartments after a fall. Witness reports of a fatality tied to the scene were unconfirmed by authorities.
Sheriff's personnel said Thursday afternoon that no deaths were found on file from the previous evening.
