Coweta County authorities are asking for the public's help in identifying a woman who stole merchandise and then assaulted a Newnan department store employee before fleeing.
The incident occurred Friday when the suspect returned stolen merchandise for a similar item at the local Kohl's store, according to a release issued by the Coweta County Sheriff's Office.
"When confronted by the loss prevention associate and the store manager there, the offender assaulted one of them and then fled on foot to a nearby maroon Dodge Caravan," sheriff's officials said. "That vehicle is registered to another subject from Snellville."
The suspect has short cropped hair and is missing her lower front teeth.
Anyone with information should contact the sheriff's office at 770-253-1502.
