Fourteen residents graduated Tuesday from the Newnan Citizen Academy, a program designed to educate citizens on how local government works.
The graduates were recognized at the start of the Newnan City Council meeting.
The program, started in 2004, is a series of classes for citizens to education and inform them about city government in Newnan.
The class meets with city department heads, city council and other agencies to learn how city departments operate and how decisions are made. Participants also tour various city facilities.
To date, more than 150 people have graduated from the academy.
This year's class included: Jim Graser, Minesh Amin, Dorothy McLean, Donald Ruberti, Tom Lukens, Shealene Clark, Margaret Moody, Noel Ruberti, Shirley Lukens, Virginia Amos, Beth Creekmore, Dr. Sara Bealing, Terri Hanson and Ryan Sullivan.
