Man Arrested After Death Threat in Front of Child

A man was arrested Saturday night after threatening a father with his life in front of one of his children.

Around 10:00 p.m., Newnan Police Officers Kenneth Hobbs and Anthony Grant responded to a call in reference to a verbal dispute on Wilcoxen Street. Officers arrived to find two suspects standing on the front porch of the victim’s home.

Officers spoke with the victim and learned the two suspects came to the victim’s home and one, Miguel Rodriguez, 54, was yelling and demanding money from the victim for some work Rodriguez had done. According to Hobbs’ report, the victim could not pay Rodriguez, and Rodriguez threatened to kill the victim with a water hose which was lying on the front porch.

One of the victim’s children heard the threat and contacted 911. According to Hobbs’ report, the victim told officers he feared for his life and the the lives of his five children in the home.

Rodriguez was charged for terroristic threats and acts and child cruelty in the third degree. He was searched, placed in handcuffs and transported to the county jail.
