Superior Court Judge Allen B. Keeble of the Coweta Judicial Circuit, who has announced that he does not intend to seek re-election, will be taking senior status after his retirement from his post at the end of the year.
Keeble will retire on Dec. 31 when his current term ends. He will take senior judge status and continue to adjudicate cases when needed.
The Coweta Judicial Circuit includes Coweta, Carroll, Heard, Meriwether and Troup counties.
Keeble has served as a superior court judge for 26 years. Prior to his election to Coweta Circuit Superior Court, he served as State Court Judge of Troup County and Juvenile Court Judge of Troup County.
Keeble is a native of Troup County. He received both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Georgia and was admitted to the bar in 1969. After serving in the United States Air Force as a captain and judge advocate, Keeble returned to LaGrange in 1972, where he practiced law until his election as Superior Court Judge in 1986.
He and his wife, Margaret, have two children and five grandchildren, and are looking forward to spending more time with their grandchildren.
Keeble expressed his sincere appreciation to the citizens of the Coweta Circuit for their trust and confidence in allowing him to serve them for the past 26 years.
Chief Superior Court Judge William F. Lee Jr., of the Coweta Judicial Circuit, expressed his thanks for Keeble's long service.
"Judge Allen Keeble has announced that he will be retiring as an active judge of the Coweta Judicial Circuit at the end of this year," Lee said.
"At that time he will have served for 27 years in the Coweta Judicial Circuit. He has served with honor and distinction, and the people of the circuit and the state are fortunate to have had a person of his ability, dedication and integrity to serve in this important position. On a personal note I have enjoyed working with him. I congratulate him on a job well done and wish him well in his retirement."

Judge Keeble always seemed fair and never conducted his court like a tyrant as some judges do. He was also always friendly outside of the courtroom and extremely knowledgeable in the law. He will be missed.
