By News Staff

The Times-Herald

Tickets go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. for an Oct. 4 concert by country music star and Newnan native Alan Jackson at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park in Alpharetta.

The Bud Light Concert Series presents Alan Jackson live at the amphitheater, located just off Georgia 400 in Alpharetta (in North Fulton County), along with special guests Blake Shelton and Ashton Shepherd.

Tickets will be available at all Ticketmaster outlets, on-line at www.ticketmaster.com, and charge by phone, 404-249-6400.

Visit www.AlanJackson.com and www.VZWAMP.com for more information.

Jackson has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide, not bad for the former Kmart forklift driver from Newnan. His big break came in 1985 when his wife, Denise, met country legend Glen Campbell in an airport while she was working as a flight attendant. Denise told Campbell about her husband and gave him a tape. Glen accepted, and soon Alan and Denise Jackson were headed to Nashville, Tenn., and a historical career full of No. 1 hit singles and platinum albums.

Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park opened on May 10 with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, followed by four sold-out Eagles concerts on May 14, 16, 17, and 20.

The 12,000 seat state-of-the-art venue is located in the northern suburbs of Atlanta and is only minutes from 400 and North Point Mall in Alpharetta. The amphitheater will hold a plethora of events during its inaugural year including concerts, community events and movie nights. Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre is also proud to be the outdoor home to the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
