Patrol cars converged in the area of Greison Trail and East Broad Street early Monday afternoon as officers searched for inmate Antonio Michael Herring.
Herring was briefly at large when he escaped while returning from the Coweta County Justice Center on Greenville Street to the Coweta County Jail on Greison Trail. Assistant District Attorney Ray Mayer said Herring was in court Monday facing charges in "three separate cases."
Herring has been indicted for armed robbery, forgery and theft by receiving. The presiding judge delayed Herring's cases until May 22, Mayer said.
Herring is a longtime Coweta County resident. He has been in trouble before and has four previous felony convictions, according to Mayer.
Herring was found about 3:45 p.m. Monday. Officers located the escapee in apartment E 103 at Summit Point Apartments. The apartment complex is located between East Broad Street and Ball Street, east of downtown Newnan.
A helicopter and a bloodhound were used in the successful effort to find Herring.
Herring was taken back to the Coweta County Jail after he was again in custody. Three patrol cars -- with lights blazing -- transported him to the jail.
Other charges against Herring are anticipated following his effort to flee.
