Weather Service cancels flood warning

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. –  The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has cancelled the Flood Warning for the Chattahoochee River at the Coweta-Carroll County line, just south of Whitesburg.

The Chattahoochee River was at 15.4 feet and falling just before noon today. The Chattahoochee peaked near the 16.5 feet mark after midnight. Flood stage for the river is 15.0 feet.

According to Jay Jones, Coweta County's Emergency Management Director, the Riverside Park on Hwy. 16 at the Coweta-Carroll line is closed.

Monday afternoon's forecast calls for a 60 percent chance of showers before 4 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 4 and 5 p.m. with a high near 61 degrees. Southwest wind will be around 10 mph. Tonight, an 80 percent chance of rain is in the forecast with a low around 47 degrees.
