County reschedules its meetings for July

The Coweta County Board of Commissioners won’t be having a meeting on Tuesday.
The first meeting of the month will instead be held July 10. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. and will be in the county commission chambers on Perry Street.
The commission meets twice each month, typically the first and third Tuesdays.
But, occasionally, meeting dates are changed for various reasons, often when the meeting date conflicts with a holiday.
Because the first July meeting will be held a week late, the second July meeting is moved to compensate. It will be held July 24 at 6 p.m.
Meetings will go back to their normal schedule in August.
The final agenda for the July 10 meeting is not yet available. However, there are at least three things that will be on the agenda.
They include votes on two recommendations from the Coweta Board of Zoning Appeals, and a public hearing on the transmittal of Coweta’s draft “capital improvements element” and the 2013-2017 “short term work program” to the Three Rivers Regional Commission for regional review.
The board of zoning appeals recommendations are regarding a conditional use permit amendment for Resurrection Lutheran Church and a variance for Odyssey School. Public hearings on both requests were held before the board of zoning appeals on Thursday.
Resurrection Lutheran, located at the intersection of Lora Smith Road and Hwy. 34 East, wants to add a preschool. That requires an amendment to the church’s conditional use permit. The board of zoning appeals voted to recommend approval of the change.
Odyssey School, located on St. John’s Circle in the Shenandoah Industrial Park, wants to add three modular buildings. That requires a variance to the county’s rules on architectural materials in the office/ institutional zoning district. The board of zoning appeals is recommending approval.
