Construction is set to begin in December on the new Cancer Treatment Centers of America of the Southeast regional cancer hospital at a site off Newnan Crossing Bypass.

From STAFF REPORTS news@newnan.com Construction is set to begin in December on the new Cancer Treatment Centers of America of the Southeast campus in Newnan. The team of West Point, Ga.-based Batson-Cook Construction and Okland Construction have been selected to build the Cancer Treatment Centers of America of the Southeast. The $55 million Newnan facility will be the fifth such campus in the United States and the hub for the center's patients in the region.
Utilizing the experience of Okland Construction in completing the Western Regional Medical Center in Goodyear, Ariz., and the health care experience and local knowledge of Batson-Cook Construction, the team will build a multi-story, 225,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art hospital, said Batson-Cook officials Tuesday. "Based on the success of the Goodyear Cancer Treatment Center, we had a sincere desire to be involved with the Newnan project," said Okland's Principal-in-Charge Bill Okland. "While evaluating the Atlanta metropolitan construction market for a local partner, we were approached by multiple contractors. It didn't take long to see that Batson-Cook's philosophies matched ours. The more time we spent together, the more we were convinced that this is the ideal team for this project." The facility, to be built on a site off Newnan Crossing Bypass across from Ashley Park, will include two linear accelerator vaults, an HDR/Brachy Therapy Vault and a nuclear radiology imaging unit. PET CT, CT and MRI facilities are crucial components that will also be included in the hospital. Twenty-five universal beds will offer inpatient and ICU access. Working with architect PSA-Dewberry and owner's representative Stonebridge Group, both of Tulsa, Okla., the team will combine to construct a five-story, 60-room outpatient residential tower. This facility will not only allow convenient access to the Southeast campus but access to various lifestyle amenities as well, said the builders. Retail spaces will be constructed for patient services as well as a full-service kitchen. Dining services with executive chef management will be built and accommodations developed for 12 RVs. "Batson-Cook Construction and Okland Construction have 187 combined years of experience in the construction industry," said Batson-Cook Project Executive Kevin Appleton. "As a result, our team has not only the resources, but the expertise, familiarity and absolute determination to make this the best Cancer Treatment Center of America built to date." Batson-Cook, founded in 1915, specializes in providing commercial general contracting, preconstruction, construction management, and design-build services to a wide range of clients. The firm has offices in Atlanta and West Point, Georgia, Tampa and Jacksonville, Fla. Batson-Cook has brought its dedication to quality construction to nearly every major category of building, including office, industrial, retail, institutional, health care, hospitality, education, and resort facilities.
