Burglary victim arrested for marijuana possession

Christopher Umbach

A Coweta County man was arrested Tuesday when marijuana and some marijuana products were discovered in his home.

According to Coweta County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Col. James Yarbrough, Christopher James Umbach, 38, of 15 Heritage Trace, contacted police in reference to a burglary at his address.

When sheriff’s office investigators arrived, Umbach said he was missing his Xbox 360 and a couple of expensive watches. When investigators entered the house, they discovered small traces of marijuana and objects related to marijuana and notified the Crime Suppression Unit at the sheriff’s office to search the residence.

CSU investigators obtained a warrant to search Umbach’s home and discovered a variety of not very well-hidden items including humidifiers and fertilizers for growing marijuana, glass pipes, an amount of marijuana scattered in the fireplace, brownies containing marijuana and half of a wheel of marijuana “butter,” Yarbrough said.

Yarbrough said that this is the first time he had ever seen marijuana in the form of butter.

Umbach was arrested and charged with the possession and manufacturing of marijuana with intent to distribute.
