by WES MAYER

A man was shot in his Newnan home Thursday morning and is being monitored in the intensive care unit at Grady Memorial Hospital.

According to Newnan Police Department Lt. Tate Washington, the shooting occurred around 3 a.m. at 199 Spring St. An unknown suspect approached the home of the victim, Andreco Atkinson, who was shot when he answered the door.

Atkinson received wounds to his abdomen and arm, Washington said.

It is unclear whether one or two shots were fired, but it was most likely two.

There are no suspects at present, and the NPD is still searching for leads.
