Three arrested for selling meth

by WES MAYER

Three men were arrested Thursday for selling methamphetamine after two successful busts by Coweta County Sheriff's Office Crime Suppression Unit.

The first arrest took place at 7:30 p.m. on 333 West Highway 16. William "Billy" Calvin Cain, 40, unknowingly set up a deal over his cell phone with one of the CSU's confidential informants. Shortly after the transaction, Cain was stopped and arrested. His vehicle was searched, and investigators found four grams of meth and a digital scale.

Cain, who was recently out of jail on bond for doing this exact thing, was charged with possession of meth with intent, sale of meth and use of a communications facility in a drug transaction.

The second arrest took place an hour later at the Dollar General on 245 Temple Ave. in Newnan. Steven Howard Goodman, 51, and Jeremy Lee Dutton, 25, made a deal by cell phone with another one of the CSU's confidential informants. After the transaction, the two men were promptly stopped and arrested. A fourth of an ounce of meth was found to be in their possession.

Dutton, who was on bond for a theft by taking arrest and was supposed to be in rehab, and Goodman, who was on parole for murder, were both charged with possession of meth with intent and use of a communications facility in a drug transaction.
