Grand opening Thursday for Newnan Centre

The grand opening and open house for the city’s new Newnan Centre is set for Thursday.

Newnan city officials are inviting the public to the dedication and ribbon cutting of the meeting and events facility, located at 1515 Lower Fayetteville Road adjacent to the Centre for Performing and Visual Arts. The celebration will be held at 10 a.m.

Mayor Keith Brady and members of the Newnan City Council will officially cut the ribbon to begin the festivities. Light refreshments will be served.

The Newnan Centre project, located on an 11-acre site, was funded by 2002 and 2007 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax monies and hotel/motel and motor vehicle rental taxes.

Land and construction cost for the Newnan Centre is $5,044,000. Partners on the project were Headley Construction, Panoply Interior Design and Rabun Rasche Rector and Reece Architects.

The Newnan Centre events facility has been planned to host various types of activities such as social events, reunions, banquets, fundraisers and corporate meetings.

Plans are in the works for a second entrance to the property to ease traffic flow when there are events at both the Centre for Performing and Visual Arts and the adjacent Newnan Centre.
