Drugs and weapons were confiscated after a drug raid Tuesday at a Hardaway Street address where seven young children were living.

We have new nominees for family of the year after Coweta authorities raided a drug house where seven children — all under the age of 10 — were living.

Six adults were arrested on multiple charges, including sale of cocaine and marijuana, as well as possession of firearms during the commission of a crime.

One suspect, Domenique Ricardo Miller, 18, tried to run out the back door and was taken down with an electronic stun gun, according to Lieutenant Colonel Jimmy Yarbrough with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office. Two others also tried to run but surrendered after seeing several law enforcement officials with weapons drawn. All three were charged with obstruction for trying to escape.

Earlier this month, investigators received information of drug dealing at the residence, located at 38 Hardaway St., and sent in a confidential informant, Yarbrough said. The informant purchased marijuana and crack cocaine.

The county’s Crime Suppression Unit served search warrants just before 7 p.m. They found several pieces of crack cocaine and digital scales in the residence, the colonel said. They also found cocaine residue on various plates that were in reach of the children.

The children were ages 9, 7, 6, 3, 2, 1, and 4 months, Yarbrough said. Each of the suspects was charged with child cruelty because of the presence of drugs. The children were turned over to a grandmother and officials with the Department of Family and Children Services were notified.

“They just sold marijuana and crack cocaine and other drugs for a living,” the colonel said. “One of the suspects had a loaded 40-caliber Glock, but threw it down as we approached.”

Those charged were: Arielle Shantrice Morman, 20, possession narcotics with intent and child cruelty; Keaira Simone Morman, 21, possession narcotics with intent and child cruelty; Miller, possession narcotics with intent, possession of marijuana with intent, obstruction and child cruelty; Joshua Glen Woods, 22, possession of cocaine with intent, possession of marijuana with intent, possession of a firearm during a crime, sale of cocaine, sale of marijuana, obstruction and cruelty to children; Lakeisa Dianne Mormon, 37, possession of cocaine and cruelty to children; and Gregory Gibbs, 38, possession of narcotics with intent, obstruction, and cruelty to children, according to Coweta County Jail records.

The case was headed by Investigator John Curtis.

In another drug bust Tuesday, four people were arrested on marijuana possession charges at 8 Cedar Court.

Investigators had information drugs were being sold and were watching the house, Yarbrough said. Several cars were noticed stopping and then leaving shortly afterward.

One suspect, Timothy Heath, 22, had just left the house and authorities detained him, the colonel said.

Investigators entered the house and found three other individuals. One suspect turned over about 35 grams of marijuana and all three said it belonged to Heath.

Heath was charged with felony possession of marijuana while the other three, Derrick James Strakose, 27, Justin Devin David, 23, and Tess Laurel Wilkings, 21, were charged with misdemeanor possession, according to jail records.

The case was handled by Investigator Victor McPhie.
