Appreciation Week

Blue bows to recognize our public safety workers

by W. Winston Skinner

It’s time to put out those blue bows.

This is Public Safety Appreciation Week.

The annual observance is a time to remember those who help keep Coweta County safe – law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical personnel and 911 staff. Cowetans are asked to put blow bows on their mailboxes or office doors or windows to show support for public safety personnel.

The high point of the week will be the annual Public Safety Appreciation Lunch on Friday. The meal will be served at the Coweta County Fairgrounds from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m..

Donations are being accepted to cover the cost of meals. Contributions may be sent to Newnan Coweta Public Safety, P. O. Box 1113 Newnan, GA 30264. Any funds not needed for the dinner will go to the Newnan Coweta Public Safety Benevolent Fund. The fund was established to help public safety workers with financial or medical hardships in their families.

Cowetans are also invited to donated homemade sweets for dessert at Friday’s meal. Desserts may be brought to the fairgrounds by 10:30 a.m. Friday, organizers said.
