Local viewers may be watching their TV sets a bit closer than usual this Monday, as the Pope family from Newnan will square off against the Parker clan of Lansing, Mich., in the TV hit show “Family Feud.”

“It was just a wonderful time,” said Sonia Pope.

“They treated us wonderfully. Steve Harvey was very down-to-earth and just so nice and he and the staff made us all feel really comfortable. We had a blast. It was a wonderful experience.”

According to information from the show’s producers, the Pope Family – which includes Sonia, an executive assistant; mother Susie, a nurse; aunt Terri, an office manager; cousin Janet, a nurse; and cousin Tresa, a business owner – will be playing for up to $100,000 prize money plus a brand new car when they appear with the King of Comedy, host Steve Harvey.

“Since Harvey took over as host of the show, viewership has increased nearly 50 percent overall,” show officials said.

“Harvey brings down the house five days a week as he puts contestants on the spot and mines laughter from the crowd with every remark, gesture and eye roll he makes.”

The show airs at 7 p.m. on WUPA (The CW 69).
