Just 55 foreclosures in August

by Sarah Fay Campbell

There are 55 foreclosure-related advertisements in today’s legal section of The Newnan Times-Herald.

Two of those foreclosures are for warehouses on U.S. 29 South at Classic Road in Grantville, owned by BCS Enterprises LLC. There are two separate advertisements, both listing the address of 4826 Highway 29 South.

The remaining advertisements are for single-family properties throughout the county.

There are also three notices of foreclosure on the right to redeem. When someone purchases a tax deed at a tax sale, the deed holder has no real right to the property until at least one year has passed, and the deed holder has officially foreclosed on the right to redeem. The tax sale parcels are 79 Spence Avenue, 53 Martin Luther King Drive, and 99 Belk Road.

In June in Georgia, one in every 1,296 homes was in some phase of the foreclosure process, according to RealtyTrac. Coweta is close to the state average, with one out of every 1,222 homes in some stage of foreclosure.

Some other metro-Atlanta counties are doing much worse. In Barrow County, it’s one out of every 628 homes. In Rockdale, it’s one in every 650. In Henry County, one in every 694 homes is in the foreclosure process.

The number of bank-owned foreclosure properties in Georgia was down 7.1 percent from May to June, and down 44.5 percent from June of 2013, according to RealtyTrac.
