Roundabout proposed for Hwys. 54/16 intersection

A roundabout is proposed to replace the four-way stop intersection at Georgia Highways 54 and 16 between Sharpsburg and Turin. 


A traffic roundabout is proposed to replace the four-way stop at the intersection of Georgia Highways 54 and 16 between the towns of Sharpsburg and Turin in eastern Coweta County.

The Georgia Department of Transportation has scheduled a “location and design” public information open house on the project for Sept. 2 at the Turin Town Hall, 47 Turin Road.

The project will involve replacing the existing intersection with a “modern roundabout,” according to GDOT officials.

The open house will be held 5-7 p.m. and is informal. The public is invited to drop in anytime during those hours to view project plans, ask questions of officials and make comments. There will be no formal presentation.

A court reporter will be available to allow the public an opportunity to make verbal comments about the project.

Anyone unable to attend can view the GDOT website at www.dot.ga.gov and click on “Information Center and Public Outreach” from the list of featured links. The open house designation is P.I. No. 332180 and the proposed project is number NH000-0022-01(023).
