Man found dead in northern Troup County

Investigators with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office are asking for the public’s assistance with any information about the death of Michael Anthony Starnes.

Starnes, 48, who was from Heard County, was found dead by deputies around 11:10 p.m. Friday in the area of McCosh Mill Road in northern Troup County, according to a prepared statement from the Troup County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators believe Starnes’ death occurred sometime Friday afternoon or evening.

Anyone with information about Starnes’ death or knowledge of the person or people responsible have been asked to contact the Criminal Investigation Division at 706-883-1616 or Troup County Crime Stoppers at 706-812-1000. Any calls made will be kept confidential, sheriff’s office authorities said.
