Coweta law enforcement arrested three men Tuesday when marijuana was found in their possession. One suspect received additional charges when more narcotics were discovered on him at the Coweta County Jail.

Around 1:45 p.m., Deputy Adam Montgomery with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop for an expired tag around the 200-block of Greenville Street, said Lt. Col. Jimmy Yarbrough with the sheriff’s office. The vehicle Montgomery attempted to pull over, however, quickly pulled off the road behind a home, almost hitting another vehicle head-on, and some of the subjects fled the vehicle on foot.

According to Yarbrough, while fleeing, one of the subjects threw a plastic baggie of suspected marijuana into the tree line. During this time, Grantville Police officers on their way into Newnan saw the fleeing subjects and assisted Montgomery with directions and taking them into custody.

Authorities recovered the baggie of marijuana thrown into the woods, a misdemeanor amount weighing less than an ounce. All three men, Robert Blake Marney, 26, Lionell Devoris Daniel, 29, and Christopher Daniel Florence, 34, were charged for the possession of marijuana and were transported to the Coweta County Jail, Yarbrough said. Because Florence was driving the vehicle, he was also charged for the expired tag, driving with a suspended license and reckless driving. Daniel additionally received a violation of probation charge.

Once at the jail, deputies found even more drugs in Florence’s possession. According to Yarbrough, during the physical search of Florence, deputies found he attempted to conceal two other plastic baggies in a body cavity.

These baggies contained more marijuana, a small amount of crack cocaine and methamphetamine and ten pills — which were not kept in their original container. Florence was further charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of narcotics and crossing a guard line with drugs.
