Ugandan Thunder — the name sounds like a crackling jolt of energy — and the choir by that name combines African rhythms, the Christian gospel and the authentic enthusiasm unique to children.

Members of the choir have sung in Newnan several times in years past. They shared their talents at Diversity Day at Arnall Middle School last year and will be there again later this month.

The children’s choir from Uganda will also be singing at two nearby churches during the next two weeks. They will sing at Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church in Griffin on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The fellowship center at Providence Baptist Church at Rico in south Fulton will be the location for a concert Feb. 28 at 7 p.m.

The choir sang in Coweta County at Northside Baptist in 2010 and at Unity Baptist in 2011 and 2012. There also was a concert at Lisbon Baptist Church in Fayette County last year.

“It’s amazing how the kids can really minister,” said Kristen Moore, a Newnanite who is working with the choir. She said she is praying God will use the children to revive churches in America.

“They don’t understand how God is using them, but He is using them in a mighty way,” Moore said.

The choir is part of the ministry of Pennies for Posho. Contributions to the ministry may be sent to Pennies for Posho, 1289 McKinley Rd., Zebulon, GA 30295.
