Two suspected drug dealers were arrested by Coweta authorities Saturday after a number of hang-up 911 calls were traced to their neighborhood.

On Friday, Coweta County 911 operators began receiving a number of hang-up calls from what appeared to be a cell phone, said Lt. Col. Jimmy Yarbrough with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office. According to Yarbrough, the caller would immediately hang up, and operators were unable to reach the caller.

Investigators were able to work with the cell phone company to trace its location, Yarbrough said, and on Saturday around 7:30 a.m. the phone call was traced to the 100 block of Witcher Circle. There investigators found Jerry Lamar Hines, 48, who had a felony warrant for his arrest in Heard County and was taken into custody, Yarbrough said.

Hines was able to direct investigators to James Arthur Coalson, 37, and Charles Gordon Hardy, 42, whom he said made the calls, on the 100-block of Lake Circle in the Meadowview neighborhood off Welcome-to-Arnco Road. According to Yarbrough, investigators located Coalson and Hardy, and Coalson admitted to making the 911 hang-up calls while high on marijuana. Both men were searched, and investigators found about 30 grams of marijuana on each of them along with numerous small plastic baggies, grinders and scales.

Both men were charged with the possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and Coalson was additionally charged with harassing calls to 911.
