Final Christmas services scheduled Sunday

Several Coweta County churches held services late Christmas Eve night, and a few area congregations had services or outreach activities on Christmas Day.

While Christmas is officially over for 2013, a few churches will be having Christmasthemed services on Sunday. Central Baptist Church traditionally holds its Student Day at Christmas on the Sunday after the holy day.

This year's Student Day at Christmas service will be held at Central on Sunday at 10:55 a.m.

On the Catholic liturgical calendar, Sunday is the Feast of the Holy Family. Holy Family Sunday celebrates the human family unit - and, in particular, recalls Jesus' earthly family as he grew up in the home of Mary and Joseph.

Holy Family Sunday Mass will be celebrated at St. George Catholic Church at 8 a.m. and again at 10 a.m. St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church will hold a Vigil Mass on Saturday at 5 p.m. and Mass for the Feast of the Holy Family on Sunday at 9 a.m. and noon.

Allen-Lee Memorial United Methodist Church has been holding Fabulous Fifth Sunday services each time there was a fifth Sunday in a month. The Dec. 29 service will mostly be music - primarily Christmas songs.

Ally Montgomery will sing 'Go Tell It on the Mountain,' with the Allen-Lee Singers joining her on the chorus. The Allen-Lee Singers will also sing 'In the Bleak Midwinter' and 'He is Born.'

Other soloists will be Tori Bartlett, Jeanne Carter, Zachary Couch, Shelia Simpson and Maelynn Strickland. Jim Kight and Winston Skinner will present a duet.
