Local Christian artist John Waller will be shooting a music video for his new song, “Orphan,” beginning at 2 pm Sunday at Truett Cathy’s Rock Ranch in Upson County, and families with children are invited to participate.

“We’re looking for kids that can represent orphans, and adults who can play the parents who adopt them,” said Waller from his home in Senoia.

Waller and his wife, Josee, are no strangers to adoption. Earlier this year they brought home three siblings from Ukraine: Anna, 11; Ola, 13; and Max, 16. With six biological children of their own, the Wallers now have enough kids to start their own baseball team. The family of 11 will all be at the video shoot on Sunday including Anna, the inspiration for the song “Orphan.”

“I wrote the song about Anna because I met her in a dream before we ever decided to adopt from Eastern Europe,” said Waller.

In his dream, Waller envisioned a young girl sitting by herself with dark hair, her bangs in her face, and very white skin. Not the Chinese toddler he and his wife had originally imagined. When Waller asked the hosting agency Project 143 if they had any children that fit the description, they found a picture of Anna. She was the girl in his dream.

“Anna has always prayed for a family,” said Waller. “She’s a very spiritual girl. She loves God and she loves to pray all the time. So she prayed for years for a family.”

“And in the midst of all the adoption process,” continued Waller, “all the things we went through, all the hoops we jumped through, going around the world twice, I just had the thought that God must really love these kids. God brought me halfway around the world for this girl, for all three of them.”

The power ballad features Waller’s 12-year-old daughter, Hadlee, singing a solo. But on Sunday, Anna will be playing the leading role.

“She will play herself, and my sister and brother-in-law will portray the parents who adopt her,” said Waller. “The hook of the song is, ‘Jesus hears the orphan. He is moving heaven and earth all for one little girl.’ Anna is that little girl.”

Filming on Sunday will revolve around the finale of the song when all the children come into the video and all of the parents unite with them.

“We want this last scene to be epic,” said Waller. “The song starts with the story of one child, one family, but then the effects are a chain reaction with many other families deciding to adopt.”

The video will release in January 2014 followed by the release of Waller’s new CD, “Life Is a Gift,” in February. Waller, a Fayetteville native, is best known for his song “While I’m Waiting” featured in the movie “Fireproof” starring Kirk Cameron. Waller’s video for his song “As For Me and My House” was nominated for a Dove Award in 2012.

Anyone who would like to be in the video should wear shirts with no logos, no white, and no overly bright colors. RSVP with the number of people in your group to musicvideo@therockranch.com. Barbecue and drinks will be available for purchase. Filming should be done by 5:30. Rock Ranch is located at 5020 Highway 36, The Rock, GA.
