Foreclosures continue downward trend in Coweta

There are a mere 57 foreclosure-related advertisements in today's legal section of The Newnan Times-Herald.

That's a number not seen since at least 2005. Current records only go back through 2006. The lowest number of foreclosures since 2006 was 60 in April 2006.

A portion of the Ashley Park shopping center in Newnan is listed in today's foreclosures. The extensive legal description describes property along Newnan Crossing Bypass, with multiple easements for utilities excepted, as well as rights-of-way. A call to the attorney listed in the advertisement, asking for clarification of the actual portions of the Ashley Lark property to be foreclosed upon, was not returned by Wednesday afternoon.

Other commercial properties listed are a 10-acre tract owned by RSC Contracting along U.S. Hwy. 16 East, which was also listed last month, and an office on Bullsboro Drive owned by Mark Vandine.

Foreclosure numbers have been on a downward trend for most of the past 12 months, except for upticks in February and March. Since August, numbers have dropped below 100. The numbers went up slightly from August to September, but were still below 100 and well below the totals of the last several years.

For the year to date, there have been 1,193 foreclosure-related advertisements in The Newnan Times-Herald. Some of those are repeats. If the trend continues, this year is on track to be the lowest since 2006. In 2007, there were 1,256.
