Task force will help streamline applications

Coweta County Commissioner Rodney Brooks wants to try to make things simpler and easier to understand for Cowetans who are seeking rezonings, special use permits, business licenses and the like.

At Tuesday's commission meeting, Brooks said he wants to form a task force, with three commissioners and County Administrator Michael Fouts, to discuss the 'business culture' and to streamline procedures.

He wants to look at ways to make services better for citizens. Things need to be streamlined 'so that the public can understand what the processes are' and the steps that need to be taken.

Sometimes, when people apply for special use permits, conditional use permits, or variances, they can be overwhelmed and unsure of what the steps are, he said.

Brooks asked Commission Chairman Bob Blackburn and Commissioner Al Smith to serve on the task force, and both agreed.

Brooks said he would like to see the task force come back with some recommendations for possible changes.
